Okay, an up-front confession here. I haven’t read The Hunger Games trilogy yet. There, I said it.

I have all of the books. They’re in my towering to-read pile. I just haven’t gotten to them yet. So when I received a copy of the new The Hunger Games Companion in the mail, I wouldn’t read it. I don’t want any spoilers—I’m trying to ignore all the movie buzz for the same reason. I know I’m going to like these books….just not yet. So…I’m passing it on to one of you.
I will read far enough to tell you what is in the Table of Contents, though, so here are the chapter titles:

1—The Hunger Games Trilogy: Surviving the End of the World

2—Repressive Regimes and Rebellions: Could the Hunger Games Really Happen?

3—Hunger: Starving in the Districts

4—Tributes: Gladiators in the Arena

5—Weapons: How Tributes Survive

6—Torture and Execution: What a Way to Go

7—The Nature of Evil: President Snow and His Cronies

8—Killer Kids: How Responsible Are They?

9—Hype Over Substance: A Mirror of Modern Times

10—Theseus and the Minotaur: Parallels

11—Survival Instincts and Strategies: Does Katniss Know What She’s Doing?

12—Medicines and Poisons: Simple and Complex

13—Muttations and Other Hybrids: Birds, Beasts, and Roses

14—More Weird Science: A Brief Roundup

  2. Suzanne you must read these books. Absolutely fantastic. One of my absolute favorites. It is really what got me hooked on the dystopian genre.

It’s hard to say exactly what i love most about the series. But Katniss is awesome. The whole premise fascinated me. Really loved all 3 books.

  5. Hi! thanks for the giveaway. I’d love to win this book because I love The Hunger Games series so much! What I like about the series is how Suzanne Collins shows the different sides of reality through THG battles. From humanity, politics & entertainment. This series is my best reads this year.

  6. I did manage to read The Hunger Game series, and so would love to read this. Thanks for the giveaway!

I liked the characters and the idea of the Games. I’m more a SF fan so I liked the look at a future dystopian setting, though I’d really love to see an adult series explaining how we got to that point.

  7. I love love love the Hunger Games! I love Suzanne Collins writing style. It’s quite frank, to the point. It’s a great dsytopian. I didn’t find the romance aspect as ‘overwhelming’ or so big as it’s made out to be by some. I liked the fact that Katniss was focused on what was going on politically, more so on than her love life.
    Thanks for the brilliant giveaway!

  9. You will definitely have time find some time to read it, Suzanne. I just gave The Hunger Games to my co-worker to read. She loved it, and passed it along to her friend who also loved it. They thought it was soo good that they had to go out and get the other two books and read them right away.

    Thanks for the giveaway!
