Congrats to Lexi George, Coreene Callahan…and, Yeah, Me! (Win a box o’ books)

In the world of romance, there are some very awesome contests and awards, and in all but one, an author has to enter in order to become a finalist. That includes the Oscar of the genre world, the Romance Writers of America’s RITA award. This isn’t a post about that.

If Rita is the Oscar, I’d say the Reviewer’s Choice Awards from RT Book Reviews magazine are the Golden Globes. Nominations are made, and the ultimate winner chosen, by the magazine staff from the more than 3,000 books they’ve covered throughout the year.

Here are the nominees for the 2013 RT Reviewers Choice Awards in Paranormal Romance, in order of release date, announced late yesterday:

DEMON HUNTING IN A DIVE BAR by Lexi George, BRAVA (February 2013)

OMEGA by Susannah Sandlin, MONTLAKE (February 2013)
THE CURSED by Alyssa Day, BERKLEY SENSATION (May 2013)
HEART OF OBSIDIAN by Nalini Singh, BERKLEY, (June 2013)
THE FIVE DEATHS OF ROXANNE LOVE by Erin Quinn, POCKET, (September 2013)
FURY OF DESIRE by Coreene Callahan, MONTLAKE, (October 2013)
BLACK AND BLUE by Gena Showalter, POCKET, (October 2013)
Woo-hoo! Will Ludlam gets his final revenge on Matthias!
Will Omega win? Probably not. I mean, there are some heavy hitters up there. But I’m incredibly honored to be nominated, and also happy as a pig in mud (okay, that’s a Southern thing) to be up there with my friend and fellow Alabamian Lexi George and my Montlake coauthor Coreene Callahan, with whom I had a chance to have dinner at the RWA nationals back in June, along with our agents. I think there might have been a strange belly dancer.
The winners, chosen by the RT Book Reviews staff, will be announced in May 2014 just before the big RT Booklovers Convention, which is in New Orleans this year and I’m already registered. Consider going–it’s an amazing convention and you’ll get so many free books and other goodies you’ll need a separate bag to bring them home.
So in honor of Omega’s nomination, I’m going to unload some books  for one commenter. Let’s say…four books from my BrokeBook Mountain of tomes. Open internationally, of course.
I know you’re pulling for me to win (ahem), but tossing me aside, who’d get your vote among this group?

  1. Major congrats! You are in the Elite group! I have read all these authors. Heart of Obsidian was awesome. Molly Harper is hilarious. And I love Coreene Callahan’s dragons!
    Best of luck to you!

  7. Congratulations on the nomination! Omega is number one in my book. Although in all honesty it’s the only book I have read of all the nominations. You have got a terrific series going on here and I hope to see this series continue. Thanks for your hard word Omega is a winner!

  8. I haven’t read Omega, but huge huge congrats, Suzanne!! This is a SUPER huge accomplishment! :)) From all the reviews it’s been getting, I’d REALLY love to read it! Out of those authors, I’d have to go with Nalini Singh. She’s been one of my favorite authors since I’ve started reading, and Heart of Obsidian was really good!

  10. Congratulations! 😀
I am shocked, dismayed and ashamed to realise I haven’t read even a single one of these books yet! So obviously I am rooting for you, but a close second would be DEMON HUNTING IN A DIVE BAR, just for the title 😀
