Q&A with Rosalie Lario and C*ntest

Today, please help me welcome author Rosalie Lario to Preternatura.  Rosalie is dropping by today as part of her virtual book tour celebrating the release of her most recent book, Touch of the Angel.  Touch of the Angel is the third book in Rosalie’s Demons of Infernum series and was released on November 26th by Entangled Select. I had the good fortune to copyedit the first two books in this series, and they are sooooo good! She has a unique world with hot guys, women who don’t take a lot of crap from the hot guys, evil bad guys, and intricate plots.
Rosalie Lariois the award-winning, paranormal romance author of the Demons of Infernum and the Fallen Warriors series. She double majored in anthropology and classics as an undergraduate student, and briefly considered becoming an archaeologist before realizing they don’t actually live the life of Indiana Jones. So what was a classical geek armed with a lot of useless knowledge to do? Become a lawyer, of course! After attending law school in Florida, she practiced real estate law for several years before finally admitting to herself that negotiating contracts wasn’t nearly as fun as dreaming up stories. She never imagined all the mythology she’d learned throughout her undergraduate education might actually come in handy, but it makes perfect fodder for the paranormal romance stories she now dreams up. When not writing, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children in their home state of Florida.
You can learn more about Rosalie by visiting her website, by visiting her on Facebook or by following her on Twitter.
ABOUT TOUCH OF THE ANGEL:  After months of no work, interdimensional bounty hunter Ronin Meyers jumps at the chance to locate an incubus who’s using succubi as murder weapons. Faced with deportation to hellish Infernum if he fails, Ronin will stop at nothing to take out the incubus and anyone else involved. Even the beautiful succubus who stole his heart—and nearly his life—during the most mind-blowing hour of his existence. Night after night, Amara and her fellow succubi are forced to extract special abilities from the strongest Otherworlders for their psychotic master’s growing collection. When the gorgeous angel-demon hybrid she believed to be dead captures her, Amara is both stunned and elated. But the happily-ever-after Amara’s dreamed about will have to wait. Before she and Ronin can find salvation, they must bring down the madman hell-bent on destroying everything—and everyone—they love. And Ronin and Amara are at the top of his list.

And now, let’s hear from Rosalie…

Give us the “elevator pitch” for your latest work?

A half demon bounty hunter vows to take down a sadistic incubus who uses succubi as murder weapons, but first he must determine whether the alluring succubus who works for this evil demon is his enemy…or his salvation.

What is your favorite scene in the book?

I’m partial to the scene that takes place on top of the Empire State Building. It’s such a visual scene, especially for anyone who’s ever been there. Also, it’s a love scene, and *ahem* who hasn’t imagined making love up on the observation deck?

Hardest scene you’ve ever written:

The initial scene between Amara and her captor was difficult to write because I was already so invested in the heroine and didn’t want to see her suffer. But it was integral to the storyline, and it helps the reader to understand where she is coming from.

What’s on your nightstand or top of your TBR pile?

I am anxiously awaiting the release of two books: Reaver by Larissa Ione (almost there!) and Up From the Grave by Jeaniene Frost.

Favorite book when you were a child:

Bunnicula: A Rabbit-Tale of Mystery by Deborah Howe. No big surprise that it features a paranormal character: a vampire-bunny that sucks the juice out of vegetables.

Your five favorite authors:

This is so hard! If I absolutely had to pick my top five, I’d go with Jeaniene Frost, Larissa Ione, Karen Marie Moning (her Highlander series), Gena Showalter, and of course J.K. Rowling!

Book you’ve faked reading:

Casino Royale by Ian Fleming. I tried, but it wasn’t my thing.

Book that made you say “I wish I’d thought of that!”

Anything written by J.K. Rowling, of course!

Book you’ve bought for the cover:

Vampire Mine by Kerrelyn Sparks. Loved it!

Book that changed your life:

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. It inspired me to start writing down the stories that had been playing over and over in my own mind.

Book you most want to read again for the first time:

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling. One of my favorite books of all time!

Most horrifying moment while reading a book:

The scene in Pet Sematary (Stephen King) where the little boy dies. I wanted to cry!

Favorite book about books or writing:

GMC:  Goal, Motivation and Conflict by Debra Dixon. This should be required reading for anyone thinking of writing a novel!

What’s next?

Heart of the Incubus, a novella based in the Demons of Infernum world, releases on December 30th.

Biochemist Cresso Taylor lives the sort of lifestyle most men would envy—he has wealth, natural incubus charm, and more women than he can handle. But it’s not enough anymore. Not after meeting Genevieve Russell, the sexy scientist who works with him at Elcorp Laboratory. And she wants absolutely nothing to do with him.

After her fiancé broke her heart, Genevieve has had enough of womanizers. She’s determined to steer clear of sexy-as-sin Dr. Taylor, despite the fact that his incubus allure makes her want to rip his clothes off. But when a secret admirer’s affection turns to the macabre with threatening notes and grisly gifts, Cresso appoints himself her protector. As she and Cresso hunt her stalker, she discovers there’s a lot more to the sensual incubus than she ever imagined.

Thanks, Rosalie! (Suzanne cheers that Cresso is going to get his own story!)
