Weekly Poll: All-Time Favorite Book Boyfriend

Apropos to nothing….There’s a fun little Battle of the Covers going on over at the Lady Scribes blog today, with book giveaways. Check it out–even if you don’t vote for my book!

Okay, All-Time Fave Book Boyfriend, or All-Time Favorite Book Girlfriend if you wish.

When I’m writing, I always develop a crush on one of my characters. When it’s a Sentinels book, it’s almost always Jean Lafitte, although Alex had his day in the sun. But the pirate always wins. Each of the Penton guys has had his moment, including Cage, who had some surprises awaiting me in Allegiance and turned out to be extremely funny (although most of the time he wasn’t being intentionally funny).

But all time book boyfriend? Ah….that’s a really tough one. Is it the dashing Mr. Darcy? (Zzzzzz.) Vampire Bill (Double Zzzzzz). One of the Black Dagger Brotherhood guys? Bones? Jean-Claude? Rhett Butler? C’mon…fess up!

My personal choices are Rhage, Jean-Claude, Vishous, and Jean Lafitte.

Aw….I have to go with my pirate. He might make my life miserable, otherwise.

How about you? Weigh in here today and be entered for the $5 gift card for this week’s High Five Friday, which will run later on the Lady Scribes blog.

  1. Now, this is a tough one! Maybe Myrrin from the Morganville Vampires books? Or Prince Corlath from The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley. Yes, Prince Corlath…maybe.

  2. Somewhat terribly my favourite book boyfriends are the ones I write myself. I love Tul Sullivan. Part of the reason I’m struggling with getting the prequel re-written is because I’ve been in love with the lead guy for fourteen years and now I don’t want to do to him what I have to do to him! As an author do you ever get that? So in love with one of your own characters that you don’t want to be cruel to them even when you have to be?

Truthfully I think my current favourite book boyfriend is Ethan Sullivan (Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires). I did like Aidan Murphy while reading Redemption. Bones from Jeaniene Frosts’s Night Huntress series certainly had his time as my favourite too. I’ve just started reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood though so maybe one of them will take over… And Marshall from Sophie Avett’s ‘Twas The Darkest Night is getting there… But currently?

    Ethan Sullivan…

  3. I have soo many. Definitely Vishous and Rhage. Roarke from the In Death series. Adam from Mercy Thompson. Soo many good ones. 🙂

  4. My first choice will always be Roarke by JD Robb, my second choice Jean-Claude by Laurell K. Hamilton. There are so many great heroes and heroines out there.
Suzanne, I recently read Ghost Walk by Heather Graham, I think you might enjoy that one.

  5. I adore Vishous, really, but my FAVE BFF is Reyes Farrow, aka the Son of Satan, from Darynda Jones’s First Grave books. He is so the sexy, caring, not-at-all-evil, supernatural, super stud. IMHO….

  6. Well, since Monsieur Lafitte is taken, I might go with Criminy Stain, from Delilah Dawon’s paranormal Steampunk romance, Wicked As They Come. Yes, yes indeed. If you haven’t met Criminy yet, you really should.

  7. So many great choices… Recently there has been Raphael from Gunmetal Magic, Terrible from the Downside Ghosts series, and Charles from the Alpha and Omega series. However, Vidanric from Crown Duel and Faramir have managed to stay on my list since high school.

  8. Great answers, guys–so many good choices! And thanks for weighing in with the book girlfriends, Roger!

Stay tuned….I think we have a winner. I’ll have the top five on Lady Scribes tomorrow!

  9. This has got to be the most difficult book related question you could ask, lol. Their are so many of them but I have to agree with Twimom, Curran has a special place in my heart. With Zsadist, Wrath, Jerricho and Adam very close seconds, lol.
