And the Oscar Goes To…

Well, okay, it isn’t the Oscar, but Jean Lafitte has laid claim to it.

I’m happy to announce that ELYSIAN FIELDS has won the 2014 Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence for 2014, in the fantasy, futuristic, and time-travel category! Woo-hoo!  The award is given each year by the Southern Magic Chapter of Romance Writers of America. DJ and Alex and the gang have always felt a little overshadowed by the Penton crew, so Jean Lafitte is claiming full victory for himself on this one. (“Bah,” he said. “It is only right that the famous privateer Jean Lafitte be selected. One should never encourage the behavior of blood-drinkers.”)

Spoken like the true diplomat he isn’t. There will be no living with him now. (But wouldn’t we all like to try?)

  1. Congratulations Suzanne! Thanks to this book series I actually knew who Jean LaFitte was when an academic bowl question was asked about him at my son’s 7th grade Academic Bowl meet. He didn’t know the answer but I was screaming it out in my head! HaHa!

  2. Yes.
(I would like to try living with M. Lafitte.)
Oh, and congratulations!! It’s a fabulous book and a very well-deserved award.
