ABOUT THE WEREWOLF WEARS PRADA: Falling in love bites…Melina Rosenthal worships at the altar of all things fashion. Her dream is to work for the crème de la crème fashion magazine, Eclipse, and she’ll do much anything to get there. Even fixing up the image of a gorgeous, sexy public figure who’s all playboy, all the time. Even if he’s the guy who broke her heart a year ago…Even if Hayden Dean is a werewolf. Since his father’s death, Hayden’s the heir apparent to the San Francisco Wolf Pack-well, once he settles down. Hayden isn’t interested in giving up his partying ways, except he’s pretty sure he’s found his fated mate, and the fact that she’s a non-shifter is bad news. Now he must find a compromise between the traditions of his wolf world and his certainty that Melina is his…before fate (or another werewolf) bites them both in the butt.
And now, let’s hear from Kristin….
Q & A
With Kristin Miller
Give us the “elevator pitch” for your latest work?
THE WEREWOLF WEARS PRADA is about a journalist willing to do anything to land her dream job at the fashion magazine Eclipse—even if that means improving the image of playboy Hayden Dean, the Alpha werewolf who broke her heart a year earlier.
What is your favorite scene in the book?
Since I’m a diehard football fan, the scene in Levi Stadium was one of my favorites to write. Melina and Hayden were cheering for different teams, which added a lot of fun banter to their sexual tension.
Hardest scene you’ve ever written:
Can I say it’s the beginning of each book? I rewrite the first fifty pages three times before continuing on. Once those first fifty pages are solid, the rest of the book comes easier, and much faster.
Favorite book when you were a child:
Darkness by John Saul. That’s probably not the answer you were expecting, but I LOVED thrillers when I was young. By ten years old, I was reading Dean Koontz, John Saul, and quickly turned to Stephen King.
Your five favorite authors:
Book you’ve faked reading:
College textbooks? LOL
Book that made you say “I wish I’d thought of that!”
Anything by J.R. Ward. She’s a world-building phenom.
Book you’ve bought for the cover:
GREAT question. There are only two books I’ve ever bought for the cover alone. FALLEN by Lauren Kate, and LADY ISABELLA’S SCANDALOUS MARRIAGE by Jennifer Ashley. Both of those covers were absolutely gorgeous. FALLEN was the first matte-covered book I’d ever held in my hands, and holy whoa, it was smooth and soft, and I HAD to leave the bookstore with it.
Most horrifying moment while reading a book:
Horrifying? Hmm…this one’s hard because horrifying is such a harsh word. I know I don’t like to feel uncomfortable when I’m reading, so if I’m embarrassed or taken aback, I tend to put the book down. That means there are certain words or scenes that are too graphic for my taste. I won’t go into detail, but let’s just say I don’t read much erotica. I firmly believe “to each their own” though.
Favorite book about books or writing:
Catherine Lanigan’s WRITING THE GREAT AMERICAN ROMANCE NOVEL is amazing, and was definitely a game-changer for me. When I first started writing, I didn’t know anything about writing romance. Sure, I’d read it for years, but understanding the rules for writing it was a completely different ball game. Since I’m always looking for ways to improve my craft, I recently purchased SAVE THE CAT by Blake Snyder, and can’t wait to dig in.
Copy edits for BEAUTY AND THE WEREWOLF, San Francisco Wolf Pack #2, should be hitting my inbox any day now. Until then, I’m busy writing San Francisco Wolf Pack #3. BEAUTY AND THE WEREWOLF releases in August, and the third book in the series releases in January of 2016. I also have another sweet, small town contemporary series releasing in the fall.
