Crazy man in trouble playing video game using joystick

Yep, today it’s National Video Game Day!

In case you missed Sunday’s post, in honor of the upcoming fun at ย Authors After Dark, I’m doing a 30-Books-in-30-Days giveaway. Okay, really it’s so I can pare down my TBR pile. Open internationally, and the book is a mystery–I can only tell you it will be either UF, SF, Fantasy, YA paranormal, or PNR. If you win, you can give me a couple of genres and I’ll match them if I can but I”m a lot heavier on some genres than others. (I don’t have a lot of adult UF, in other words because there just isn’t much coming out anymore.)

All you have to do to enter is answer the question: What’s your favorite video game?

I have to admit I struggled with this one myself. At the risk of sounding like an old fart, I never quite saw the point. (Okay, yeah, I do sound like one–LOL.) I come from the joystick generation. So although it’s not a video game, per se, I’ll say Scrabble. I do like to play that on my tablet, although not in a couple of years, and beat the computer about half the time.

So, young whippersnappers, what’s your favorite video game…or computer game?

  1. Every morning I play solitaire, mahjong, and sudoku on the computer, just to get the brain going. I play each until I win one.

  2. I’m not a big gamer so there isn’t many games I’ve played. If I have to choose any then it will have to be the lego games, eg Lego Star Wars, etc. My kids love them so I’ve played with them ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I started playing the Disney Frozen and Maleficent games on my tablet, when those frustrate me enough I usually go back to my solitaire game

  4. I think i have played the simpsons tapped out for like 5 years now. But i think freecell is the one i always end up playing in the end. โ™ก

  5. i’m not fan of vidoe game at all but i did start dragonquest and i like it (because i can play a little then forget about iot for months^^;;) on teh computer it would be solitaire or majong

  6. I play The road to El Dorado on my computer and Bubble World on my phone.

  7. My favorite video games currently are the Lego franchise because I can play that with my nephews and nieces (or by myself…let’s be honest) and the Borderlands series. But for years (from “vanilla” until the Pandaria expansion) I played WoW. I just don’t have the time for it anymore and I’m not going to pay the subscription fee to keep it active!

  8. My favorite video game would be Mahjong. I play it on my computer all the time. I also like playing Tekken with my daughter and husband.

  9. I don’t play video games often, but when I do, it’s normally a RPG(role playing game) and takes over my life. Last one I played was Final Fantasy X when it came out, and I have avoided the new ones(I enjoy having a life). I play clash of clans, solitaire, and sudoku on my phone almost daily. โ˜บ

  10. I don’t play video games anymore, but when I was a kid I loved playing Mario Kart and Crash Bandicoot!

  11. I’m usually going through phases of being quite addicted to certain computer games, currently it’s “Criminal Case” a game I only recently discovered on Facebook.

  12. I do several games on Shockwave every morning: jigsaw puzzles, a couple of variations of hangman, the daily Snoop (hidden objects). Used to like Pac Man, back in the day.

  13. Honestly, I don’t like video or computer games. I’ve got no patience for them. I’d rather put that time and energy into reading! but, I do really like my android phone app games ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve been playing Jems Journey for years, it’s a free, limitless version of Candy crush and I’m addicted! Thanks for sharing!

  14. I don’t play video games. I used to have a Boggle game that played, but the real thing is better.

  15. A long time ago it used to be, “Mortal Kombat” now I enjoy playing Facebook’s “Voyage to Fantasy”

  16. I enjoy word games like Scrabble and Boggle. I also enjoy Sudoku, solitaire, and online jigsaw puzzles.

  17. At the moment I’m totally addicted to the Dragon Age series (Fantasy rpg)
I also love the Mass Effect series (SF rpg) and Left 4 Dead (zombies!!!)

  18. Ohh that’s a tough one. I’d have to say the Zelda franchise would be number one with the Dragon Age and Witcher series as close seconds.
Back in the day though I was obsessed with the King’s Quest and Space Quest games.

  19. Favorite. Of all time? Final Fantasy 7. Very excited about the announced upcoming remake.

  20. I’ve never really gotten into video games – but I do like playing Spider Solitaire on my iPad. ๐Ÿ˜€

  21. I haven’t been able to play many video games except for Solitaire lately but i loved Super Mario World, Mario 64 …the different Sonic games and others in the same type of genre.

  22. I’m pretty terrible at video games. However, I can play Mortal Kombat like nobody’s business. Why? Because you can just hit as many buttons as fast as you can and still manage to win every once in awhile. ๐Ÿ˜€
