Started the day with breakfast with awesome author Mina Khan, and we had a chance to chat about pets, day jobs (she’s a food writer–how cool is that?) and, of course, the upcoming DARK SECRETS anthology. Mina has been the driving force behind the anthology, which is somewhat akin to herding cats, I suspect.
I don’t read erotica or erotic romance, so I decided not to go to Naked Lunch, but by all accounts no one was naked and there was lunch. 🙂
This afternoon was panels, panels, panels. First was a panel talking about urban fantasy and kickass heroines, so I got to talk a little about DJ and about Glory Cummings, who’s one of my favorite Penton heroines (although, I guess in some ways Randa is more kickass, technically).
Next came a panel about twisting the mythos–coming up with different twists on the old paranormal myths like vampires and werewolves…and, you know, MERMEN. Rene is my current book boyfriend (sorry, Jean). Thanks to Liz, who shot a photo of the panelists. Unfortunately, I’m working on my laptop with no mouse and I can’t get my trackpad to insert photos except at the end. Which is, of course, entirely the computer’s fault and not the fault of the operator 🙂
From left, Ciara Knight, me, Rebekah Ganiere, Mina Khan, and Marianne Morea. (Thanks, Liz!)
Finally, there was a panel on worldbuilding, one of my favorite subjects :-).
Then it was time to rush off and get the room set up for “Stalk the Authors,” a special event with myself, Mina Khan, Rebekah Ganiere, Cathy Clamp, Coreene Callahan, and Eve Langlois. Eve did a hilarious “game show” powerpoint.
Now, I’m working (yes, really) on the Pirateship Down collection and ready for another big day tomorrow. More soon from Atlanta!
