The Reaper’s Kiss Playlist and #Giveaway with Abigail Baker

Today, please join me in extending a warm welcome to fellow author Abigail Baker. Abigail is stopping by today as part of her virtual book tour celebrating the release of her latest book, The Reaper’s Kiss. The Reaper’s Kiss was published on August 24 by Entangled Select Otherworld and is the first book in Abigail’s Deathmark series.

Abigail Baker shares her home with a Siamese cat endearingly named “The Other Cat” and two rescued mutts with mundane human names that people think are cute. In addition to writing about rebellious heroines, she enjoys hiking, discovering craft beers, baking the perfect vanilla bean cupcake, and rock climbing (going as far as scaling 800 vertical feet to the summit of Devil’s Tower National Monument in 2013). Abigail won first place in the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writer’s 2010 Colorado Gold Writing Contest for Romance for THE BLOODSUCKER and first place in RWA’s Golden Network’s 2011 Golden Pen in Paranormal Romance for TATTOO OF YOUR NAME ACROSS MY SOUL (now THE REAPER’S KISS, Deathmark Book One). She regularly blogs about life observances, lives at the base of the Rocky Mountains, and can be easily found hiking any of Colorado’s best trails. You can learn more about Abigail by visiting her website, her blog, on Facebook and by following her on Twitter.

bakerABOUT THE REAPER’S KISS: Ollie Dormier’s tattoos are deadly. She is a Scrivener—an employee for Death—and her skull tattoos mark her clients for their demise. She does her job, and she stays out of trouble. But when her hands start to burn hot and fierce, and her control goes leaping out the window, all hell breaks loose. Ollie is showing the early signs of being a Master…demonstrating power that is forbidden. That power is exactly what Reaper Brent Hume is counting on. A hot, scruffy rebel, who does marvelous and terrifying things to Ollie’s insides. Now he needs Ollie’s help—and her skills—to overthrow the evil and corrupt Head Reaper. That is, if he can figure out a way to keep this hot-handed girl cool…and keep his hands off.

THE REAPER’S KISS Music Playlist…with metal.
by Abigail Baker

If you think a book about a woman who tattoos death into people would have a playlist abigailcrammed full of heave metal, you are a partly right. When I wrote my debut paranormal romance, THE REAPER’S KISS, music was an essential vehicle for creativity. In fact, a good song on repeat for hours (yes, I’m a little nutty) was sometimes the only way I could write a particular scene. There was a time for heavy-head-banging metal…a time for trancelike electronic…a time for 80’s goth rock…and even time for The Man in Black.

So instead of telling you about my writing process, I’m instead going to share the soundtrack to THE REAPER’S KISS, A Deathmark Novel. Enjoy! (and maybe turn your speakers down for #7).

1. Soilwork, Let This River Flow
2. Florence + the Machine, Shake It Out
3. Blue Oyster Cult, Don’t Fear the Reaper
4. Johnny Cash, Ring of Fire
5. Daughter, Love
6. All That Remains, Forever In Your Hands (Acoustic)
7. Mnemic, Deathbox
8. I:Scintilla, The Bells
9. Lacuna Coil, I Like It
10. The Cure, Lovesong

I’m turning this post on you, readers. What songs move you?

Thank you for reading! And thank you to Suzanne for hosting me today!

Peace out!

  1. While I waited for the “Reply” button, I thought about music that moves me. I’m a product of the late 50’s early 60’s so my song lists are different. Have a few CD’s loaded on the car player from that era. The song that always moves me and brings tears to my eyes is “I’m Sorry” by Brenda Lee. [Who? What? LOL] Just loaded The Reaper’s Kiss to the Kindle.

  2. Thanks for sharing your blog today and spotlighting The Reaper’s kiss!

I grew up with parents who played 50’s and 60’s music all the time, so I have a deep love for the music. I suspect that’s why Johnny Cash popped up on the list.

I hope you enjoy Ollie and Brent’s story.

  3. So many songs move me. Right now I’m listening to a lot of Iron Maiden. I love that you have Don’t Fear the Reaper on your list, Blue Oyster Cult is a fave, too.
