Mixed-Media Wednesday and New Tour Stop

Is it already Wednesday? The week is passing in a blur. Ended up with a 15-hour workday on the day job yesterday and the rest of the week doesn’t look much better. Then I shall take a week off to see my doctor again and FINALLY get over this respiratory crud, I hope.

There’s a review for PIRATESHIP DOWN today at The Cubicle Escapee, and another chance to enter the $50 tour giveaway. If any of you find that the Rafflecopter isn’t letting you enter at each stop, let me know. Thanks for the review, Jen!

I’m taking a watercolor workshop called “Furry Friends” from German artist Andrea Gomoll, so most of what I’ve been doing the last couple of weeks has involved animals. It’s given me a chance to play around with different types of watercolor media. This week has some owls using diluted Tombow water-based markers as watercolor and a cutie-patootie French bulldog using Kuretake Gansai Tambisย ย and India ink. Last week, I did a couple using Van Gogh and Reeves pan watercolors sent to me by a friend. I’m not sure I’ll ever be a huge w/c fan–they’re much less forgiving than acrylics, and I need a lot of forgiveness!

Thanks again for all the great ideas for Jean Lafitte’s new business ventures yesterday! They gave me a great chuckle even after an exasperating day at work!

Want to win a book from my TBR Room? Just share if you have pets, and what kind, and their names? (Okay if you have 50 cats, you can just share four or five names–LOL.)

  1. No other pets here than tons of plushies. The hippos outnumber the other animals, but there are plenty of pigs as well.

  2. I don’t know if it is pet, exactly, but I have a small blackhole that roams my house. Sometimes it eats things that never reappear, sometimes it eats things and throws them back up in different places. I can’t really tell you what I call it, I’m sure you can imagine some names.

  3. I have my daughter’s cat, an English Short-hair named Patches the Cat. She’s 15 years old now and just as grouchy as ever.

  4. Sadly, I do not have a pet. My husband travels quite a bit, the kids are not home due to college (well, last one is leaving after this school year), and I work long and sometimes very odd hours…the kids learned to fend for themselves the last few years and feed me. We feared a pet would be neglected or lonely.

  5. I don’t currently have a pet, but I grew up with several cats named Tigger, Winnie the Pooh and Snoopy. Snoopy always liked to poke her nose where it didn’t belong!

  6. Two cats who were rescues at 5 weeks. They are now 14. Max and Callie also known as BOB (big orange butt) and Monkey Pants.

  7. 1 dog Roucky such a wonderful loving, nursing one, and a cat with whom i’m so angry at this moment because he destroyed AGAIN a new plantation that i won’t say it’s name as punition ( he is part siamese so more dog than cat for something so he knew he was doing badly and he did it looking me in teh eyes by sheer provocation because i wasn’t tehre to cuddle with him today and had no time yesterday…. the pest)

    • I hope Rocky is doing better! I had to laugh about your cat. One of my best friends has a Siamese, and we always call him “the terrier” because he’s more like a mischievous dog than a cat. So as soon as you said “Siamese” I knew what you meant!

      • ^^ he like to play go fetch ( teh cat) for example, none of teh dog i knew ever did so that had me laughing for quite a time
but he can be a terreur more than a dog as well

i’m glad you are using watercolor even if you are not too fond of that technic ( your owl is cute)

  8. Even though I am a dog lover, we don’t have any pets right now. However, I do have a number of large dust bunnies in the house.

  9. I have an absolutely adorable and terribly behaved miniature dachshund named Gretel who I love like mad and miss terribly…(I’m living overseas at the moment and she’s with my parents). Sometimes they put her on Skype but she doesn’t understand screens so…

  10. We have 3 furchildren, who all came adopted from our local animal shelter: a black cat named Abbot Underfoot (that’s his hobbit surname, because he is very short and hairy and he is ALWAYS underfoot), and 2 dogs named Orchid and Lily. Orchid is a black lab who came at 6 years old with her name already, and Lily is a 4-ish-year-old pit/boxer mix who came as “Jelly,” but she’d only had that name for 4 months because she’d been found as a stray. So it was only the work of a couple weeks of treat-training to get her to recognize her new name, and now we have two flower babies ๐Ÿ™‚
