Happy (belated) Sunday! Sorry I’ve been so absent this week–my “virtual assistant” is moving on to greener pastures and it’s left me doing some thinking about how I want to restructure my blog and giveaways and newsletter and social media and mailings and monthly Fiction Affliction columns in the coming year. And, you know, still have time to WRITE. Obviously, something has to give.
It will NOT be the newsletter or this blog, however, since those are my primary means of keeping in touch with you guys!
Anyhoo, I’m re-reading BELLE CHASSE right now since I suspect editing is finally going to commence on it soon and it has been a full year since I turned in the manuscript. Some of it has me going “eek–needs a rewrite.” Other parts are amusing me. So here’s a part that amused me. In this scene, DJ and Eugenie are making a run from a posse of elves, faeries, wizards, and werewolves. It still makes me laugh.
“Run fast,” I shouted, sending another shot of the staff toward the Blue Congress wizards and blowing up a life-size marble stag sitting atop a nearby tomb.
We didn’t stop to make sure the stag’s antlers hadn’t impaled the wizards, but ran for all we were worth. “Let’s run to the transport before those idiot wizards can get out from under the marble stag butt.” I grabbed Eugenie’s hand and we ran to the clearing. “Help me roll this frozen werewolf out of the transport.”
Ha. I mean, how often do you get to use “marble stag butt” and “frozen werewolf” in the same paragraph?
Now…did you win a book this week? If you see your name here, please email me using the contact tab at the top of this page or by emailing email@example.com. TBR books are print books; Readers Choice books are the winner’s choice of print or digital. I can’t promise what genre you’ll get but if there’s a genre you really hate (YA, for example, or SF), let me know and I’ll do my best.
LORIH824 won a TBR book for mispronouncing “Thibodaux” 🙂
LIZ won a TBR book for sharing her current read on National Day of Giving. (And thanks to all of you who helped us reach our goal of endowing a scholarship for a veteran to attend the university–an endowed scholarship means that the interest is used for the scholarship, the university matches it, and so veterans will be able to get help with their college expenses for years to come.)
MIKI won this week’s Readers Choice giveaway and chose the new book by Gini Koch.
Congrats to the winners!
There will be a new Reader’s Choice tomorrow, so come on by 🙂
