New Releases May 1-7 and Reader’s Choice #Giveaway

Happy Monday!

It’s the first Monday of May, which means there are a MONSTROUS number of new releases this week.

If you’re new around these parts, you might wonder what Reader’s Choice Monday is. Below are the new releases from this week that I thought would most interest readers of this site. I tend to cut out a lot of hard sci-fi and YA and some indies I couldn’t find without a lot of digging. If you know an interesting release this week I missed let us know in the comments.

So, if you win a Reader’s Choice book this week and want one of these, great. Pick your favorite. BUT, on Sunday when I announce the winner, you can change your mind and pick a different book—anything, print or digital, as long as it costs less than US$15. Open internationally, of course, as long as you live somewhere Book Depository delivers. Sorry!

Now, here’s what I considered the most interesting from among the new books releasing May 1-7….

Ross is the primary investor in a remote and secret compound where death is exquisitely controlled and bodies are preserved until a future time when biomedical advances and new technologies can return them to a life of transcendent promise. Jeff joins Ross and Artis at the compound to say “an uncertain farewell” to her as she surrenders her body. “We are born without choosing to be. Should we have to die in the same manner? Isn’t it a human glory to refuse to accept a certain fate?” These are the questions that haunt the novel and its memorable characters, and it is Ross Lockhart, most particularly, who feels a deep need to enter another dimension and awake to a new world. For his son, this is indefensible. Jeff, the book’s narrator, is committed to living, to experiencing “the mingled astonishments of our time, here, on earth.”

So…what do you want to read? Which of these appeals to you most? Note that if you win, you can choose a different title!
