I’m hoping by this time next week, ILLUMINATION (Penton #5) will be up for preorder ahead of its July 11 release. Stay tuned. In the meantime, here is the very beginning of the prologue, spoiler-free:
Prologue * Frank
Frank Greisser might be head of the world Vampire Tribunal, but what good was that when he was always hungry, his clothes billowed around his frame, and he’d had most of his own Tribunal members murdered?
He longed to bleed dry the human feeder in the next room. But the days when vampires drank their fill had passed, at least for now.
Maybe not for much longer. Finally, hope had risen for the starving vampire population, or at least for the vampire population who backed him. Rebels would be killed. Slowly and with maximum pain. Beginning with the vampires who lived in that hellhole known as Penton, Alabama.
Frank longed for his family home in Vienna, with its view of the majestic Danube and the ancient city center. Instead, he looked out the window of his host’s home at the gaudy lights of New Orleans’s French Quarter, an ancient city by American standards but merely a poor imitation of the European capitals he loved.
Ah ha—Penton has come to New Orleans again, after a brief visit in ABSOLUTION. The first third of the book is split between Penton and NOLA, then everything comes together in Penton.
