Featured Book: DEMONS LIKE IT HOT by Sidney Ayers

Today’s featured book is DEMONS LIKE IT HOT, by Sidney Ayers,
and I’m giving away a copy, so read on…

Do you like books featuring demons? They’re sort of a guilty pleasure for me. I mean, they’re DEMONS. And I was brought up in a strict Baptist home and The Exorcist scared the crap out of me. And, uh, they’re demons.

But some of the paranormal romances with demons are, if you’ll pardon the pun, really hot. Because the demons in paranormal romance are always tortured, and who doesn’t love a tortured hero? They’re misunderstood, they’re sexy, they’re often the victims of poor impulse control, and seem to frequently have delightfully snarky senses of humor because, as demons, they don’t have to worry about being politically correct. They only need the right woman to turn their miserable lives around (tortured, remember?).

Today’s featured book, Sidney Ayers’ Demons Like It Hot, fascinates me because it combines a hot, tortured demon mercenary with a heroine who’s a caterer. Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m a serious Food Network fan. I’d wrap Michael Symon up with a bow and bring him home for my birthday if I could. So I love the premise of this book!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Serah SanGermano runs a successful catering company in a Midwestern town. After she inadvertently helped her friend unleash a legion of demons, she’s been trying to hide her own newly discovered powers. Matthias Ambrose, a mysterious demon mercenary sent to protect her, has his own secret— one that will embroil them both in the scandal from hell. (December 1, 2011, from Sourcebooks Casablanca)

So…how about you? Have you read a book with demons in it? Were they romantic demons, or scary demons? One happy commenter will receive a print copy of Demons Like It Hot, by Sidney Ayers. You know the drill, kiddies: one entry for comment, a second for blog follow, third for Twitter follow @Suzanne_Johnson, and a fourth for a tweet or retweet.

  1. I don’t believe I’ve read a book with demons in it before, werewolves, dragons, and vampires, yes, but not demons. I would love to read this book. I put it on my TBR pile.

  2. I’ve read Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers series and it had scary demons. I haven’t had the opportunity to read any books about good demons as of yet. Thanks for the opportunity to win “Demon’s Like It Hot”. Sidney Ayer’s is a new to me author, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about her books.

  3. Right now I’m reading Allison Pang’s A Brush of Darkness which features a rather hot incubus as one of the main characters. It’s not paranormal romance, but he’s an incubus, a demon who feeds off the sexual pleasure of women. In other words, he’s pretty sexy. I’m sure I’ve read other paranormal romances that feature demons, but I just cannot recall it offhand. You can’t help but be drawn to the bad boys that need a woman to help them, right? 😉

  4. Hi Suzanne! I have read many books with demons in them. Most of them were sexy as all get out, an scary when they needed to be. Love those demons! I haven’t read any of these but I would love to try them. Thanks for the giveaway! bpatrick64113@sbcglobal.net +1 Comment, +1 Follower

  7. What a great cover! Thanks for the chance to win this book. And of course, the blurb is good as well 😉

I’ve read some series with demons in them, like Marjorie M. Liu Hunter Kiss, Lori Handeland Chaos series, Kim Harrison The Hollows series, and like them. And what about those Kresley Cole books? Seriously smoking hot!

  8. Now I love Demon’s =) I’ve read so many books lately with demons in them. It’s like a new phase for me. I really enjoy the romance ones but I’ve also read some that are not, like Kim’s Hollow’s with Al. I really like Al 😉 Kresley Cole’s series IAD has demons. A YA series The Fallen has angels and demons and I so happen to have liked the demon. The Sin Eater’s promise by Michele Hauf is a free read right now, short story. It was good as well. I’d LOVE to win this book so I’m adding my name to the contest. Thanks

  10. The most recent I’ve read was “Courting Demons” by Kerri Nelson. That demon was sexy, but very bad.

  12. I’ve read some very hot and sexy demons. The Lords of the Underworld came to mind first, but I also loved Jacquelyn Frank’s Nightwalkers. A few series have had the bad demons, but not many of those.

  13. I don’t think I’ve read a book with demons in it, definitely not one as the main character. I’m seeing lots of them in paranormals books and plan on “meeting” some soon.

  15. I enjoy books that have mainly demons in them, like Larissa Ione’s Demonica series, or where there are demons as minor characters. However, I don’t usually like books with both angels and demons – those always seem to stray into quasi-religious territory and I prefer to stay away from that.

  16. I’ve read a couple books with scary demons, but I definitely prefer sexier demons. Or sarcastic and hilarious demons.

  17. There seems to be a lot of Demon books out now. I have this one and a few more on my wishlist. I haven’t read any of the sexy ones yet. I’ve read a couple with bad demons. I liked Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherwold series and there were a couple Demons in it.
