Coming Monday–Jackson Square: A Story of Jean Lafitte

Ready for some piratical shenanigans? Here are the plans for Jackson Square, which is a novelette of about 12,000 words. I’m timing it to celebrate the Tuesday release of River Road in paperback…finally! I hear there are moves afoot to do special pricing on Royal Street in July. As I hear more, I’ll let you know.

From Monday through Friday, I will post a new section of the story each morning here on the Preternatura site as well as on my author website. The story will stay up for a week before I pull it down. In late July (date to come), it will be available as an inexpensive (less than $2) download, including bonus material “from the diary of Jean Lafitte.”

So, I’m off to do some final edits on the story! In the meantime, I will get you in the mood (well, okay, probably not–Jean would HATE this song since he isn’t even mentioned) with a song I remember as a really young kid, by Johnny Horton, called “The Battle of New Orleans.”

Now…did you win a book this week? If you see your name here, please email me at suzannej3523 at gmail dot com with your mailing info. As always, my apologies for being a slow mailer. This day job is killing me! But I will get stuff to you eventually. And if it’s been more than six weeks and you haven’t heard anything, don’t be shy about sending me a reminder email.

SUSAN won the three-book “Feral Friday” prize pack. This is going to be a regular Friday featuring until my ridiculous TBR pile gets pared down, so always check on Friday to see what’s up for grabs!

TIFFANY won her choice of the award-winning novellas by Shirley Jackson award finalists S.P. Miskowski or Ennis Drake, or a mystery book from my TBR pile. (If you want to take another look at the novellas before deciding you can read about them here.)

AURIAN won a print copy of my, er, Susannah Sandlin’s STORM FORCE.

VAN PHAM won this week’s Reader’s Choice contest, and selected Proxy.

Stay tuned for the pirate!

  1. WOW! Waiting pays off. Jackson Square will be here tomorrow. How fast the time does fly. Really looking forward to reading Jean’s novelette.

  2. Royal Street has been dropped to $2.99 (at least at Amazon). That should get you lots of new exposure. There’s a running UF/PNR thread over at Kindleboard and I posted about it there. Hopefully it will be featured on some of the bargain Kindle book sites.
