RWA, Day 1: Report from the Road

Well, I’d hoped to have some cool photos from RWA today, but the fates conspired against me. I arrived at the hotel at downtown Atlanta about 12:30 and…the room wasn’t ready. It was okay, though, because I had a chance to chat with Christine Glover (soon to be published by Entangled) and Pamela Mason, a co-chapter member of the Georgia Romance Writers group. Except that it took more than two hours to get the room ready.

By then, I barely had time to fly to the room on the faaaar side of the 32nd floor, wait another half-hour for my luggage to be delivered, and then change and fly back downstairs for the big author book signing. The authors were sitting at long tables, sorted by last name, so I had a great chance to meet Linda Johnston, who writes some cool-looking shifter books for Nocturne, so look for her here on the blog soon! Two seats down was Darynda Jones, so the rest of us were hoping all the bazillions lined up to get her autograph would at least notice our books :-)….Not so much, but it was still fun and I got to see my uber-agent Marlene and editors and publicity folks from both Tor Books and Montlake Romance.

I have a bag o’books already to give away and I haven’t even hit the goody room yet! So we shall see what tomorrow brings.

Photos? Yeah, I took some….right before my phone lost all power and I realized I’d left my phone charger sitting at home. Duh.
