jackson squareDue to special request, I’ve reposted the JACKSON SQUARE novelette and will leave it up as a free read through the end of September. Click on the MULTIMEDIA tab above to go straight to the story, which is located below the video trailer for the series.

JACKSON SQUARE is an urban fantasy novella set in the world of the Sentinels of New Orleans series, published by Tor Books. Book 1 in the series, ROYAL STREET, takes place during and immediately after Hurricane Katrina, while books 2 and 3, RIVER ROAD and ELYSIAN FIELDS, pull the timeline up to the present. JACKSON SQUARE takes place between books 2 and 3, if you’re into timelines, but prior knowledge of the series isn’t necessary. All you need to know is that there is a parallel paranormal world to our present world whose borders are overseen by wizard sentinels, and famous historical figures such as Jean Lafitte and his nemesis Andrew Jackson (well, at least in my world) are granted immortality through the magic of human memory. As long as humans remember you and use your name, you continue to live. And, as Jean Lafitte himself will point out to anyone who will listen, he is quite unforgettable.

Current plans are to include this novelette, some bonus content, and a new novella entitled PIRATESHIP DOWN into a collection for release in November or early December. I also hope to do another novella and story collection for release in February. Gotta have something to give you guys a Jean and DJ fix before PIRATE’S ALLEY comes out in April!

Stay tuned for more details.

  1. Thanks, Suzanne, had to read “Jackson Square” again just to refresh my memory. This reread reminded me of another short with Jean Lafitte, “Pirate’s Alley” [2011]. Have enjoyed Jean since the beginning. Thanks, again.
