Pirate’s Alley ARC Giveaway, Sales, News & Weekly Winners

Whew! Well, that title will make this blog post sound deceptively exciting 🙂

First off, though, I do have–GASP–a real, live print ARC (uncorrected advance reading copy) of PIRATE’S ALLEY to give away today! Very, very few of these were printed so if ever by some fluke become famous it might become valuable. Don’t hold your breath on that one, though. As with all ARCs, it has a plain white cover and not all the typos and last-second text changes are reflected. If you win, I’d love for you to review it on AZ and other spots when the book is published on April 21–even if you hate it. But I hope you won’t 🙂

To enter, just leave a comment with your favorite Sentinels sidekick. In other words, someone other than DJ. :-). Mine is still the pirate, but the merman is growing on me faster than a speeding dolphin!

Let’s see, what else.

LDD Top Pick ButtonOh! A huge THANK YOU to Night Owl Reviews and reviewer Bookshifter for making LOVELY, DARK, AND DEEP a top pick in January! You can read her review here.

I’m setting up a few events for the year, so if you’re going to be anywhere in the vicinity I hope you’ll stop by and say hello.

February 20, 6:30 p.m. I’ll be attending a “Love in the Library” event at the Homewood Public Library in the Birmingham area with a lot of my Southern Magic RWA chapter-mates. The keynote speaker at the FREE event is author Kerrelyn Sparks, so it should be lots of fun. And I think there’s food.

April TBA. There might be a launch event afoot in New Orleans for the launch of PIRATE’S ALLEY. Time, date, and place to be announced but maybe around April 24. Stay tuned.

aad headerAUGUST 12-16, Atlanta Sheraton. I’ll be a featured author at AUTHORS AFTER DARK this year, and hosting a table at the Bump in the Night Ball as well as doing some panels (those are TBA, as plans are still in the making). Master of Ceremonies will be Sherrilyn Kenyon, and you can take a peek at the authors who’ll be there at this link. This is SUCH a fun convention, and there’s lots of time for readers and authors to just hang out and have coffee or chat. More details as we get closer.

Between now and Feb. 7, STORM FORCE is on sale for Kindle for $1.99. If you haven’t read how Nik and Robin of ALLEGIANCE fame got their start, this is the book. You can find it here.

Unless something untoward happens, if you’re in the UK, the Amazon UK store on Feb. 6 will have the first three Penton books–REDEMPTION, ABSOLUTION, AND OMEGA–as the Kindle Daily Deal for 99p each. Yay!

Okay, finally, did you win a book this week? If you see your name, please email me with the pertinent mailing info: suzannej3523@gmail.com.

KRISTIN LEE won this week’s TBR Toppling group of five YA books. These are all print so I’ll need a snail-mail address.

BARB P won this week’s Reader’s Choice giveaway and selected Bound by Flames.

That’s it for today. Stay warm and dry. Enjoy the Super Bowl if you care or join me in working this afternoon if you don’t. See you tomorrow with a new Reader’s Choice giveaway!

  1. My favorite sidekick is the privateer Jean Lafitte, but I have a soft spot for Charlie and consider him a sidekick also and so I have two favorites.

  2. I love all the characters, but Jean Lafitte is definitely my favorite. Can’t wait for this book!

  3. I love Alex and I think he really cares for DJ. Hubba hubba..

    .Jean is growing on me…LOL! I don’t feel like Jean always has DJ’s best interests at heart… it’s more Jean’s interests…with DJ’s second. 🙂

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  4. Well, it has to be Jean. I’ve had a soft spot for Jean Lafitte for many years and your books just added to my crush.

  5. Okay Did you have to ask such a hard question? I love them all but Jean Lafitte probably edges out just a teeny tiny bit as my favorite sidekick…..but with the way things are going that could change.

  6. Jean is my favorite and Rene is a close second. Congrats on the Top Pick for Lovely, Dark and Deep!

  7. Rene!!! He is awesome!
I’m no fan of Jean, I will confess. He’s too slimy imo. When he shakes your hand, you’re counting your fingers afterwards, just to be sure,.

  8. What an exciting event schedule for 2015! One of these years I would like to go to Authors After Dark. I love your Sentinels of New Orleans series and my favorite sidekick is Jean Lafitte.

  9. Thanks for the comments, everyone! I see Jean still has the biggest following but, like me, many of you are fans of Rene as well. I’ll be interested to see how you view Jean after reading Pirate’s Alley–he might surprise you. Oh yes, he’s a hopeless scoundrel and has his priorities straight (his priority is Jean Lafitte), but he and DJ have a very deep conversation about their relationship, and he tells her how he views her and why he pursues her. He does it in a very honest, very stark confession, and I must admit the pirate made me cry. Of course, Alex made me cry more later in the book, but that’s a story for another day. And in my own defense, I was really tired–LOL.

  10. Hi Suzanne! First off, YEA I won!! Thanks so much! I’ve already sent my email to you. Second, I have to say, that I’m kind of really getting fond of Rene. Although, Alex and the pirate will always have a place in my heart. Real decisive there huh. I can’t wait for the book to come out!!! Thanks for the contest.

  11. Don’t know if Alex really counts as a “sidekick,” but he is my favorite of the men.
