iTunes Has Spoken: My Top 10 Songs of 2015

Basia Bulat

Basia Bulat

Happy New Year’s Eve! I thought it would be fun (for me–probably boring for you) to revisit my top 10 songs of 2015, according to the number of times I’ve played them in iTunes.

Warning: I do not have normal musical tastes, admittedly, so you aren’t likely to hear any hits here. I also listen to Sirius XM’s “Radio Franco” a lot. Also, these are not songs released in 2015 necessarily; it might be that I only discovered them in 2015 or that I re-discovered them in 2015.

Hope you find something you like! Counting down from #10 to #1. And I found it amusing that #10 and #9 have to do with drinking and drugs, neither of which I partake in. I don’t think one or two glasses of wine a year really counts as drinking, does it?

#10: À boire à boire (To Drink, To Drink), by David Jalbert

#9: “Stone,” by Vincent Vallières

#8: “L’âme du bohemien” (Soul of a Bohemian), by Kaïn

#7: “Je Sais Que Tu Sais” (I know what you know), by Alexandre Belliard

#6: “The Wrong Direction,” by Passenger

#5: “Compassion,” by Lucinda Williams

#4: “Holes,” by Passenger

#3: “Fermont,” by Vincent Vallières (Fermont is the name of an isolated mining town in northern Canada)

#2: “Marie Rollet,” by Alexandre Belliard (Marie Rollet, wife of Louis Hébert, Canada’s first non-indigenous settler. She moved to “New France” from Paris with her husband and three children in 1617.)

And, drum roll….

#1: “Heart of My Own,” by Basia Bulat. This became the definitive playlist song for Celestine, the heroine of WILD MAN’S CURSE, and I’m still playing it to death.

Did you have a favorite song from 2015? I’m always looking for new things to listen to!

  1. Thanks for sharing with us. Of this list “Heart of My Own”. is my favorite. Happy New Year.

  2. Thank you a lot for sharing this with us…all new discovery so i will listen to them carefully now and try to see if my favourite will match yours

    Happy New year!

  3. I enjoyed the list. Am a fan of Passenger. I do listen to some pretty main stream music though sometimes I favor a cover of the song. Example would be Fight Song on youtube performed by Kurt Hugo Schneider and Benjamin Kheng.

    • Now that I have Sirius XM in my car, I’m listening to a broader range of music. I haven’t heard that cover of Fight Song–I’ll have to go and look for it!

  4. Wow! Thanks for the link to Basia – new to me artist. I had to go to you tube and listen to everything.

    • Isn’t Basia’s voice amazing? I did the same thing. Heart “Heart of My Own” on Sirius XM Radio, then went straight to YouTube to see what was there. And she plays the harpsichord!
