Scene-Snippet Sunday, Mirren Kincaid Edition (and Weekly Winner)

Happy Sunday! I’m on the road today, off to visit a friend, but I hope wherever you are it’s a lovely day (or evening) and that I’m not getting rained on. I’ll have to talk about my experience with cars and rain sometime. It isn’t a pretty set of stories.

In the meantime, here’s a self-explanatory snippet from ILLUMINATION, which finally has a firm release date of July 11. I apologize for the delays; I have crappy lungs and they have not behaved themselves for the past five months. The book isn’t up for preorder yet, but stay tuned for the order link when it’s available!

In the meantime, let’s join Mirren as he ruminates on his mate….

Idiot leaned over to retrieve his gun from the ground, and Mirren pulled the trigger before he’d gotten a grip on the pistol. “Sorry, man. No time for playing with my prey tonight. Glory’s coming home.”
He had a few words for her when she got here, too. He practiced them as he went about the routine of dispatching Idiot to his final resting place. Don’t you ever take off like that while I’m in daysleep and I’ve told you not to. He sliced a neat incision in Idiot’s chest, cut out the heart, and threw it on the ground. What part of no did you not understand, Gloriana? He rifled through Idiot’s pockets and pulled out a wallet. Don’t make me handcuff you to me when I’m in daysleep to keep you safe. He stuffed the wallet in a pocket of his cargo pants with two others he’d already confiscated tonight. When I say no, I mean no.

If you’re talking to me, Mirren Kincaid, you can just put a lid on it. Glory’s voice rang clearly in his head, and Mirren couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across his face. She was close enough to for them to communicate mentally.

How much of that did you hear?

Heh. Poor Slayer. He doesn’t know the people in Penton see right through that ferocious exterior.

In the meantime, did you win a book this week? If so please contact me using the contact tab on this page and let me know the pertinent details. I PROMISE to get orders in for giveaway books this week. I’m slowly catching up with things. How I ever had time for a full-time day job, I have no idea. LOL.

SANDY G won last week’s giveaway book and was torn between ONLY THE DEAD KNOW and THE DRAGON’S PLAYLIST. Just let me know!

In the meantime, see you tomorrow for a new Reader’s Choice!

  1. Thanks for the snippet. I think I’m glad I can’t communicate mentally. Would really have to be on guard. July is close enough now. Waited long enough.
